Fourteen pupils from various years enjoyed a ten-day cricket tour to Sri Lanka over the recent half term break. Four 40-over matches were played, as well as two T20 matches – at the Galle International Stadium.

The tour started in Colombo, the main city in Sri Lanka where we played three 40-over games against local collages; the contest was fierce and competitive as we battled in tough Sri Lankan conditions.

As well as some great cricket, there was time to explore Colombo seeing a Buddhist temple and touring around parts of the city; the culture was very different and a great experience for everyone to enjoy.

With half the tour over in a blink, we took an early morning train journey across the beautiful Sri Lanka coast to the more commercial area of Galle – including a visit to the Kosgoda Turtle Conservation Centre.

We played two T20 fixtures at the world-famous Galle International Stadium, we won both as

well as being privileged to play in such a fantastic setting. Equally, our final game the next day was in more rural Sri Lanka in an unbelievably beautiful place, as the location was hoping to become an international ground in the near future.

The game was tough and despite our best efforts we narrowly lost completing a great tour all round. The final day involved some more sightseeing including a boat Safari on the Madhu River.

A big thank you has to go to Mr Graham Cooper, Mr Stuart Welch, and Mr Alex Forsdike for organising and leading such a successful tour.
