Director of Netball, Miss Sam Houghton, is launching a Senior and Junior High-Performance Netball programme to further develop our netballers throughout the year.
The voluntary sessions will focus on skill development and game understanding, as well as training based games, to progress engagement in netball. Pupils will continue to participate in our wider sports programme, allowing for variety.
Miss Houghton, who is also involved in coaching in the Surrey Storm set up, said ‘I’m excited to be launching this new programme for our Netballers. Cranleigh’s focus is very much about sport for all and we will never lose sight of that. Within this programme, we will provide small group and individualised sessions with focused coaching around improving the whole netballer as well as position-specific skills. Having both a Junior and Senior programme means we can cater to all year groups whilst still maintaining a competitive and High-Performance environment.’
This year Miss Houghton and former Director of Netball, Mrs Sian Broad, were joined on the coaching team by Miss Charlotte Masters. Miss Masters is currently a member of the Surrey Storm U21 training squad, who are part of England Netball’s Elite Athlete programme.
The Senior high-performance programme will include pupils from the Upper Fifth (U16s) and Sixth Form (U17 – U18) and Fourth and Lower Fifth will take part in the Junior programme.
