Seven Cranleighans won their tournaments at Lee Valley in the Olympic Park last week.

First up were four of our Under 16 boys playing for Guildford– Barney B., Jamie F., Toby K. and Louis P. Having beaten Bowdon 6-0 in their semi-final a few weeks ago, they put Repton to the sword in the final. Guildford took the lead early scoring two goals in the first five minutes with Repton replying just a couple of minutes later and the score remained 2-1 at half time. Toby then scored ten minutes into the second half and a further three goals in a nine minute spell gave Guildford an ultimately comfortable 6-1 victory.

In the Under 14 boys Dexter G. was playing for Surbiton as they turned round a first half deficit to claim victory. Cambridge City were two goals to the good by half time but a second half rally saw Surbiton score three goals in a fifteen minute spell before surviving the last few minutes of the game with 10 men.

Two Cranleigh Hockey players win gold with Surbiton

Surbiton Under 18 Girls played their final also against Repton. Liv M. and Pippi S. were starring in their line-up. Never behind in the match, they scored two goals in the first seven minutes and added a third 20 minutes later. Although Repton replied almost straight away, it was 3-1 at half time. Early in the second half Repton scored to narrow the gap to one but Surbiton replied within a few minutes to restore their two goal lead. In the dying seconds Repton got a third but it turned out to be a deserved 4-3 win for Surbiton.

Congratulations to all our athletes on their victories.
