On Tuesday we were very lucky to be able to welcome the newly appointed England Women’s Cricket Head Coach, Charlotte Edwards CBE, to join our 1st XI girls for their training session. Charlotte is one of England’s most notable players and coaches, she represented her country over 300 times and captained the team for 10 years. During her career she won the Ashes twice as a captain and led the team to a World Cup victory. Following her playing career, she has coached domestic teams across the world winning the Hundred, Women’s Premier League in India and the Big Bash in Australia.
During the session Charlotte spent time with the batters, working on their technique and giving some individual feedback to help them to develop. Following a question and answer session she also presented the captain Abby S with her 1st XI cricket colours.
Reflecting on the experience Abby said “it was an unbelievable experience for everyone – a once in a lifetime opportunity. Having followed women’s cricket for a number of years the girls were all so excited to have a legend of the game in our midst and it was something we won’t ever forget. We are all hugely grateful to have been given the chance to learn from her.”
