Dangerous Minds, a competition in which pupils craft and present a speech advocating for a ‘dangerous’ idea, took place this week. We were pleased to have eight outstanding presentations from pupils ranging from years Lower Fifth to Upper Sixth.
Their speeches explored a variety of themes, including advocating for a maximum wage policy, the cultivated meat industry, and an exploration of the fiction of fitting in. Each presenter really embodied our school values, especially aspiring boldly and being yourself, as they had undertaken significant independent academic research and confidently shared their calls for action.
The two runners up were Riley O. (Lower Sixth, North) and Emilia P. (Lower Sixth, Martlet). Riley challenged the school to consider later start times for the sake of teenage sleep, and Emilia urged us to reduce our screen time due to the damage social media causes adolescent mental health.
The winner of Dangerous Minds 2026 was Coco B., who closed the evening with an outstanding speech about ‘The Equality Paradox’.
