Sport is a fundamental pillar of our educational philosophy. We believe the pitch is an extension of the classroom. It is a space where character, resilience and the spirit of Cranleigh is forged. Whether playing for enjoyment or professional aspiration, sport here is about the pursuit of excellence and the lifelong bonds formed through shared endeavour. This week, that commitment was highlighted by two significant events celebrating our deepening partnership with Harlequins Rugby.

A Gesture of Partnership: Tuesday’s Ticket Handover
On Tuesday, 12th May, Cranleigh welcomed representatives from Harlequins for a special visit. The club generously presented two hundred tickets to the school to say thank you for our enduring relationship. This partnership is vital to our rugby programme, providing a direct pathway for elite players into the Harlequins Academy and allowing our teams to benefit from the expertise of ‘Quins coaches who help deliver our world-class curriculum.

Planning for the Future: Jim Evans Visit
On Thursday, 14th May, Jim Evans, Head Coach of the Harlequins U18 Squad, visited to collaboratively plan the development of 1st XV standouts Alfie P and Luke W. The Lower Sixth duo will spend the summer training within the professional Harlequins environment before returning for the Cranleigh preseason in August. This bridge between school and professional sport is essential, giving aspiring players elite support while remaining fully integrated into school life.

From Captaincy to Academy: Jack K’s Professional Step
We are proud to announce that Jack K has officially signed a contract with the Harlequins Academy. This is a monumental step towards his dream of playing professionally.
Jack, who was the 1st XV Captain for the 25/26 season, has been an outstanding presence over the last five years. His leadership and work ethic embody the best of Cranleigh sport. We look forward to following his professional journey with immense pride.
As we celebrate these successes, we remain committed to the belief that sport at Cranleigh is for everyone. The lessons of discipline, respect and perseverance learned here will stay with our students long after they leave the pitch.
