The Girls’ U16 hockey team have won the National Schools’ Hockey Championships held at Cannock this week.

Following their 3rd place in the country at the National Indoor competition in January, the Girls’ U16 team became National Champions in the Outdoor Finals held at Cannock HC on February 26th and 27th. They beat Queen’s College, Taunton in the final match, having drawn with Ipswich School 1-1 and with victories over Trent College 3-1 and Arnold KEQMS 4-1 in the group stage. As their coach Dan Fox notes, “this is a tremendous feat for a notably talented and enthusiastic squad”.

On February 28th the Girls’ U14 team, coached by Steve Batchelor, were also in the top eight schools for the Outdoor National Finals in their category: they finished 4th after a 1-1 draw with St George’s College, Weybridge.

In the same week, both the U14 Boys and the U18 Boys were crowned Surrey champions.

Head Coach, Richard Organ, commented: “the whole School campus is buzzing at the moment: it has been wonderful that both boys and girls have been able to share their stories with such enthusiasm this week”.
