Last weekend saw some excellent performances from the girls’ hockey teams, with several victories. The 1st XI won 2-1, with a special mention to Bethan L. for her goals. The 4th XI and the 3rd XI had dominant wins of 7-1 and 6-1, respectively. The 16A’s secured a 2-0 win, and the 15B’s delivered their best performance of the season so far with a 5-1 victory. The 15C’s won 2-0, while the 14A’s triumphed 7-1 with strong attacking play in the first half. The 2nd XI, 16B’s, and 15D’s all drew 2-2. Overall, the hockey club played 14 matches, winning 7, drawing 3, and losing 4. A huge well done to everyone!

In boys’ rugby, there were some intense contests against Brighton College. The 1st XV won 17-14, coming back from 14-3 down with only 7 minutes left and just 13 players on the field. The 3rd and 4th XV teams secured significant victories, winning by over 50 points each. The 16C’s won 31-27, with further victories for the 15B, 15C, and 14B teams. The 14D’s also had a strong 25-0 win in their second match of the triangular. In total, the school played 15 rugby matches, winning 7, drawing 1, and losing 7.

For the “Teams of the Week,” the 15B hockey team earned recognition for their impressive 5-1 win, showcasing great teamwork and attacking play. The 4th XI hockey team also stood out, with Mr Organ stating, “In my fifteen years here, I have never seen a better Fourth Team performance.”

In other sports, the U18 and U16 indoor girls’ and boys’ hockey teams have all qualified for their county finals, with the U18 boys securing their spot by drawing both games. The girls’ 1st team narrowly lost 2-1 in their opening Tier 1 cup match but fought hard, nearly equalizing in the closing moments. The boys’ 1st XI football team advanced in the ISFA Shield after a tight 3-2 win over Reigate, despite being 3-0 up in the first half. The U18 boys’ 1st XI hockey team won their first Tier 1 cup game against Dean Close, securing a 2-1 away victory.

Golf teams competed in a mixed U15/14A match, as well as senior team matches against Gordon’s School and Charterhouse. The 1st VII girls’ netball team had their Surrey Schools Qualifier, starting strong with a win against Charterhouse and showing flashes of brilliance throughout the group stages. The squash team also faced Charterhouse last Thursday, continuing a busy time for the sport.

This Saturday we have had last minute changes to our fixtures. We have rugby triangular games against Marlborough and Hurstpierpoint for some sides and then straight matches for others, as well as badminton matches against Epsom and hockey against Wellington. As ever, information can be found on our sports desk. Our grass pitches are wet but we fully expect all games to be on tomorrow.
