It’s been another action-packed week since the exeat!
The U16 girls’ hockey team put in a fantastic performance away at Bromsgrove on Monday. Though they lost 2-0, reaching the Tier 1 national last 16 is a tremendous achievement—well done to the squad! Meanwhile, the 1st XI boys’ hockey team faced a strong Peter Symonds’ side, losing 5-2 despite one of their best performances this season, gaining valuable experience in the process. The 1st XI boys’ football team secured a place in the IFSA Shield semi-finals, winning their quarter-final on penalties (3-1) after a 1-1 draw—marking their third consecutive year in the final four.
Thursday saw a busy schedule with Fives matches for U18 and U15 boys’ and girls’ teams against Charterhouse, while our swimmers hosted Harrow. A special mention to Sienna R. for her brilliant performance in the pool.
Excitingly, former pupil Dino Lamb (Class of 2017/18) will be representing Italy against Scotland in the Six Nations this weekend. Now playing for Harlequins, Dino joins several other Old Cranleighans in professional rugby—we wish him the best of luck!
Upcoming Matches
This weekend, we have a packed schedule of fixtures, weather permitting! Sadly our internal 6th XI football game has had to be cancelled due to waterlogged pitches. In the U15 netball, Hurstpierpoint are unable to field E and F teams, so we’ve adapted the format to ensure all players get a full match. The U15D team will play Hurstpierpoint D for one half, while the U15E and F teams compete internally. They will then each play a quarter against Hurst D, with U15D playing a quarter against Cranleigh’s E and F teams. These matches will take place at the Prep School.
