First hand research for the new Lower fifth art project theme of ‘ Natural Forms’ was the purpose of a recent trip to London and so pupils drew and photographed from the displays at the Natural History Museum. In the afternoon one group walked across to the Victoria and Albert Museum, while the other travelled to the National Gallery to look at how artists and designers have worked from nature. Students really enjoyed the chance to see both extraordinary items and then how artists have responded to them. They drew and made notes, filling pages that will be added to work journals back at school. Further responses will be seen in their own developing GCSE work.
