On the Friday before Long Leave pupils, matrons and staff enjoyed a superb afternoon of House Athletics. Despite the hot conditions, the level of competition was fierce and it really was fantastic to see so many pupils representing their houses, running, jumping and throwing to the best of their abilities. Huge congratulations to Loveday and South who will lift the trophies at the end of term.

We have kick-started the second half of this Summer term with 16 pupils (18 selected) who were represented  Waverly at the Surrey Schools’ Track and Field Championships in Kingston last weekend. Congratulations to Jess Robinson (3K), Will Barnicoat (1500m), Sophie O’Neil (Shot put), Dotun Adegbite (High Jump) and Caitlin York (Javelin) who all became Surrey Champion in their respective events. Will Barnicoat has also received his official invite to the English Schools’ Championships towards the end of July. We wish him the very best of luck there where he will be racing against the country’s fastest U15 1500m runners.

This weekend we are hosting our own event at the K2 stadium in Crawley. We are very much looking forward to welcoming Brighton, St John’s, Wellington, Epsom, Seaford, Hurst and Worth for what I hope will be a truly enjoyable day of highly competitive athletics.
