Pupils from Cranleigh Prep School and the Dragon School, Oxford thoroughly enjoyed a day of practising new hockey skills and playing different conditioned games with the inspirational guidance of three Olympic Gold Medallists this week.
The conference was lead by Matt Taylor, (former GB mens’ hockey), Kate Richardson-Walsh and Helen Richardson-Walsh, (both GB womens’ gold medallists in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016).
Hockey coaches from both preparatory schools, along with those from Hurstpierpoint, were able to broaden their perspective on hockey training for younger players, and discuss the thinking behind some of the new ideas and techniques that Matt, Kate and Helen imparted to everyone.
Although exhausted at the end of the six hour conference, all the players very much enjoyed being with such luminary leaders in the Premier League club and National team arena. There was a chance for autographs, photos and holding the impressive gold medals before they all departed.
