James M., Jack H. and Jamie MC. went on Sunday and Monday last week to compete in the U18 HMC Stroke Play Tournament at Hollinwell Golf Club in Nottinghamshire. The tournament was across two days and included three rounds.

James M. finished day one in second place with a terrific round of just 71! His second round saw him post a 73 meaning it was all to play for in the final round of the tournament. It was neck and neck throughout the round but sadly James three-putted the 17th hole which would prove the difference in a tournament of the very highest standard. James finished one shot behind the winner in third place. This really is a terrific achievement and something he should be so very proud of.

Both Jack (who scored 89, 89, 84) and Jamie (84, 93, 89) finished in the top 35 and they should be proud of their achievements in what was a terrifically competitive tournament.

The school’s golfers regularly compete in tournaments and matches throughout the year both here on our nine-hole par three golf course as well as in other HMC singles and foursomes events, Schools’ Invitational tournament at West Sussex and the Surrey Schools handicap and scratch championships.
