Politics and Economics pupils took part in a lecture and Q&A with Jeremy Hunt MP, the MP for South West Surrey and the Chancellor of the Exchequer. He gave honest and comprehensive answers on political topics ranging from the future of the Conservative Party in light of the local election results, his experiences working with civil servants across a number of departments and on the challenges of funding increasing budgets for both defence and social justice programmes. Mr Hunt also dealt with questions from economics pupils on issues as varied as income inequality, the challenges behind increasing economic growth and the opportunities offered by AI technology.

Politics students have enjoyed a fantastically varied few terms. In addition to speaking to Labour Peer Baroness Lister via video call, pupils have also heard in-person lectures from Shadow Health Secretary Wes Streeting MP, Reform UK leader Richard Tice, and Liberal Democrat Sarah Olney MP among others and even attended a live recording of the most popular UK politics podcast The Rest is Politics with Alastair Campbell and Rory Stewart.

We are grateful to all our speakers for giving up their time to bring living politics to students and we hope to welcome many of them back to the school again.
