We are pleased to share that Mr Dan Reed, Loveday Housemaster and Teacher of Design Engineering, has been selected for the Welsh Over 40s Touch Rugby squad.
Below you can read in his own words, what the opportunity means to him.
“I have been selected for the Welsh Over 40s Touch Rugby squad (16 members) to compete in the F.I.T (Federation of International Touch) Touch World Cup (TWC) in Nottingham this July. This achievement is particularly special for me as it marks my second year of playing touch rugby after retiring from the full-contact version a few years ago. Transitioning to touch rugby has been an incredible journey, and I am thrilled to represent Wales on the international stage.
The 2024 TWC promises to be the largest event since its inception in 1988. This year, the competition will feature an impressive lineup of 39 nations, with over 190 teams and 3000 players participating. Teams from around the globe, from as far afield as Papua New Guinea to the Cayman Islands, will converge in Nottingham for this prestigious tournament. The scale and diversity of this event highlight the growing popularity and global reach of touch rugby.
Below is the dates, time and opposition for the groups stages of the competition, all will be streamed live via the F.I.T website https://www.internationaltouch.org/ ”
Congratulations and good luck!
