One Sunday evening in March (because finding a suitable time in the calendar was really difficult), we gathered in the Emms Atrium for an evening of music from our talented musicians.
Originally slated as “Cubitt’s Got Talent!… (or does it?)” the ending was removed, because clearly we really do.
We saw a brilliant level of musicianship from the IV form with both Josh on Piano and Felix singing Anything Goes. Simon played us the piece he won the Helen Wareham Competition with on the ‘Cello.
These talents were then backed up by the older boys. Wilko let us enjoy one of his own songs, “Little Pieces” and Hugo played an Oasis classic – Half the World Away. A mini-band perhaps for one performance only – was formed Oscar on drums and Jasper and Max singing “Chasing Cars”. A special mention to Max who leaves us this summer and it was a joy to hear a Pink Floyd duet with Wilko – (despite the microphone falling down).
The end of the night was bought to a close by the newest additions to the Cubitt Tutor Teach. Mr Rossiter re-wrote his own version of Jess Glynn’s “Thursday” entitled “A mid-week Conversation between STC and a Sixth Former”.
He said he scribbled it down the earlier that morning, but we don’t believe him.
This song also featured Mr Carson’s superb skills as a professional triangle player.
A big thank you to Mr Rossiter for organising the event, Simon for the graphical work on the poster and to Macca for being in charge of the technical specifications.
