Last weekend Darcey Blaze M. saw many hours of hard work in the saddle at home come to fruition, when she competed for GBR in an International Dressage competition and topped the podium twice in three days.
As part of the British Dressage International Pathway Squad, which provides support and training for U21 riders who the selectors feel have the potential to gain selection for European Championships in the future, DB competed in the 14 and Under Children on Horses competition. Over the three days of competition, which involved riders from all over Europe, she and her young pony Mr Darcy, had to complete three increasingly difficult dressage tests in a big atmosphere not always congenial to a young pony who is still learning his trade!
Such is her determination and talent, however, that following a third place on the first day she posted winning scores on day two and day three, demonstrating her quest for perfection with incredibly high ‘collective scores’ which reflect the overall ability of the rider to produce a harmonious test. Over the three days she also achieved the highest aggregate score in the Children on Horses category.
