Philip Leamon

Mr Philip Leamon joined Cranleigh in 2017. He is Head of Sustainability and Environmental Education, Second in Department in English and a tutor in North House. He coaches rugby, hockey and tennis and is responsible for all Voluntary Action environmental volunteering and our student gardening provision.

He is currently heading up Cranleigh’s drive to meet our environmental and sustainable obligations and ensure our pupils are positively engaged with the natural world and understand their impact on the planet. He runs the Cranleigh Sustainability Council and also the Surrey Enviroinmental Action Schools, a regional part of the UK Schools Sustainability Network. Alongside organising student and school-wide enironmental and sustainability activities and initiatives, he is currently also developing the school’s Sustainabiltiy Action Plan and Strategy. He has oversight of our newly launching second-hand uniform inititative.

In department, Phil teaches all year groups and is responsible for our 4th Form (Year 9) English provision and our Literacy strategy and provision. He is a passionate lover of myth and folk traditions and writes a bit of poetry, 

He’s a whizz on the ukelele.
