Mr Philip Leamon joined Cranleigh in 2017. He is an English teacher and a tutor in North. He is also a sports coach and involved in Cranleigh CCF.
After studying English Literature at Southampton University, Mr Leamon undertook postgraduate acting training at Drama Studio London, before going on to work as a professional actor for nine years. In 2008, he travelled round South American for a year and, whilst there, decided to retrain as a teacher.
Mr Leamon studied for his PGCE at Exeter before working in state schools in both the West Country and East London. He subsequently took up a position at RGS Guildford. Whilst at RGS he ran the English Society and Burns Night events; organised and instructed on the CCF SCUBA programme; developed an Individual Study Project for Lower School Boys and co-ran a highly successful illustrated poetry publication called Illustroetry that was selected to exhibit at an international art exhibition run by Cambridge University. He was also Head of Year 8 and Year 9 for a number of years until deciding to explore new challenges and opportunities at Cranleigh.
