The Futures Cup showcases the best under 16 and under 18 hockey players in the country in a competition coming out of the Regional Performance camps and assessments in the summer and the201511 u16 Girls Saxon Tigers2 subsequent match competition between the 12 regional centres.

Cranleigh were represented by no less than 5 girls in the under 16 competition. In the first game, Izzy Petter, playing for the Wessex Leopards, found herself up against four of her schoolmates who were playing for Saxon Tigers. Although she managed a goal herself, her team lost 2-5 to the Tigers. They then lost 1-2 in a close game to Mercia Lynx but recorded a 3-2 win against the Penine Pumas to round off their tournament on a high note.

Meanwhile the Tigers containing Zoe Allchurch, Autumn Brown, Fifi Robinson & Amy Thompson, won their second game against Penine Pumas 3-0 and in a high quality final match, they secured a 2-0 win against Mercia Lynx to win the tournament.

In the Boys under 16 tournament, Taylor Seager-Green was playing for the Wessex Leopards, but unfortunately Harry Gough couldn’t join him due to injury. A 2-3 loss to Saxon Tigers was followed the next day by a 2-5 loss to Mercia Lynx, but the final game against the Penine Pumas saw an enthralling 2-2 draw.

Congratulations to all of them and also to Coca Hall (U15), Freddie Esplen (U15) & Rory Calnan (U17) who were selected to their respective England age group HIPACs (High Performance Assessment camps) in the same week.
