Last weekend saw no less than 13 Cranleigh players take part in the National Club indoor finals. Pick of the crop were Rory Calnan, Harry Gough, Taylor Seager-Green and Leo Thompson who were representing Surbiton u16s and became National Champions. They had four wins out of four against Ashmoor, Thirsk, Norwich and Cannock in their pool, scoring 19 goals with only 6 against. In the semi-final they had a close game versus Leicester but ran out 4-3 winners and then played really well to beat the previously undefeated Marlow 4-1 in the final to lift the trophy.

Also playing for Surbiton at the same venue, the under 16 girls included Zoe Allchurch, Autumn Brown, Izzy Petter, Fifi Robinson and Amy201601 u16 Clubs Indoor Nat Finals1 Thompson. Comfortable victories against Taunton Vale and York on the first day were followed by a hard-earned 2-2 draw versus Leicester after being 0-2 down, and a good win over Harleston Magpies to win their pool. An easy 6-1 semi-final victory over Horsham set up a final against Beeston that see-sawed one way then the other, but unfortunately ended in a 3-4 defeat.

Megan Batchelor, Olivia Camsey, Eva Solt and Emily Thorpe, playing for East Grinstead u18s, had a tough start against eventual champions Beeston, losing 2-4. A close win over Canterbury was followed by a 0-0 draw against Clifton that included a disallowed goal that would have got them through to the semis. Their final pool game was an easy win over York 7-2.

Well done to all of these athletes.
