On the evening of Wednesday October 12th the LVI Business Studies students were treated to a talk from the owners of ‘137’, hair and beauty salon based in Cranleigh village. Hannah, an OC (1999-2001) and Guy set up the business four years ago having both previously worked in London for well known hair studios. They had a fascinating tale to tell including: their initial reasons for looking to buy a franchise, their ultimate decision to go it alone, how they raised the finance necessary to set up the business and survive the recession, and anecdotes of staff betrayals and legal battles! It was great to give the students some real life context to the theory covered in class and they will have taken away a lot from the talk, not least a goodie bag! Many thanks to team 137 for giving up their time.
