Loveday was designed to feel like a family home. When the building was commissioned in the late 70s, the development team sought to create the perfect boarding house. We think they did a good job! Loveday is centred around Wilson Quad, a large open-air space named after a previous Housemaster. The friendly feeling of Loveday is infectious and boys can regularly be found watching the super-sized smart TV or socialising in Matron’s room.

Uniquely, Loveday has a second site known as High Upfold. The senior year groups spend a term here on a rotation, where the common room - housed in an 18th century barn - is incredibly popular.

— Housemaster: Mr Dan Reed

Mr Reed joined the Design Engineering department at Cranleigh in 2013 after eight years of service as an Officer in the Army. From January 2023 he took over as Housemaster for Loveday, having previously been Deputy Housemaster. Mr Reed graduated from Loughborough University with a degree in Industrial Design in 2002 and then stayed on to obtain a Masters in Marketing and Management, before going on to complete Officer’s Training at Sandhurst.

During his military service he gained a plethora of skills which hold him in good stead for living in a boarding house. A keen sportsman, he represented Wales in Clay Pigeon Shooting, is a qualified Ski instructor and won numerous Army rugby cups with his regimental side, The Royal Welsh.

Mr Reed is married to Helen and has twin girls, Poppy and Ruby, as well as Clemmie. The final member of the family is their slightly crazy Cocker Spaniel ‘Monty’.
