With record numbers doing the Bronze DofE Award, organising 84 LVth for their practice expedition proved more complicated than usual. However, with three separate campsites, 10 members of the LVIth undertaking their Gold Award and nine members of staff, and the threatened heavy rain holding out until after we’d returned, it ran pretty much to plan.

Campsites were boggy, the night temperature dipped below freezing, groups got lost, blisters appeared, shoulders ached and pots didn’t want to get clean. But, that’s all part of the experience that, despite everything, leaves those involved with smiles on their faces and memories of a weekend well-spent… eventually!
