Cranleigh’s 1st XI enjoyed an emphatic 10 wicket victory over Tonbridge School on Saturday 12th May. After winning the toss and electing to field, Cranleigh opening bowler Shane Thomson clean bowled the Tonbridge opener with the first ball of the match, setting the tone for the day. Will Rollings (3/20) removed the rest of the top order before Tonbridge steadied the ship, reaching 90/4 off 25 overs. The spin duo of Bruno Broughton and Jack Scriven then combined to clean up the rest of the Tonbridge order, leaving the hosts 109 all out. Broughton finished with figures of 4 for 16.
Cranleigh’s reply was astonishing. After surviving a couple of overs before the lunch interval, brothers Bradley and Jack Scriven savaged the Tonbridge attack to knock off the target in 12.4 overs! Jack was particularly aggressive, striking 8 sixes on his way to 84 not out off just 42 balls. He has now scored 236 runs from three innings this season. Tonbridge enjoyed rather the better of the fixture overall, winning the remaining ten fixtures on the card.
