Last week Upper Sixth Artists travelled to see two exhibitions in London. A wide-ranging show of contemporary painting at the Hayward Gallery and then onto the collection displays at Tate Modern. Once again the chance to see artworks first-hand – to understand their scale, and surface; their physicality and material properties rather than through screen was really appreciated. Inspiration from these works will feed into developing coursework back in the studios at Cranleigh.
