OedipusThis week saw the latest incarnation of Cranleigh Classics’ September Lecture.

We welcomed Professor Tim Whitmarsh, the newly-appointed Professor of Greek Culture at Cambridge, and over a hundred guests, including five school groups and members of the public. In a speech entitled ‘Oedipus the Atheist’, Professor Whitmarsh lived up to his radical reputation, exploring the bounds of atheism, freedom of religious expression and the history of heresy in a wide-ranging and enjoyable talk.

We were delighted too to welcome back for the evening our old friend and colleague Kate Moreland, now Head of Classics at Reed’s School, and look forward to continuing our collaboration with her department there in the future.
