Over the last few weeks, Cranleigh Cadets have been sorting uniform and practising their drill in preparation for the Remembrance parade in the village.

Early morning on Sunday the 10th November, around 40 Cadets formed up in the car park for last minute uniform adjustments and inspection. Once sized up they took their place in the parade at St Nicolas Church in Cranleigh. The weather was ideal, and the parade marched smartly to the Cranleigh village war memorial from St Nicolas Church as the names of the fallen were read out.

Once at the memorial, the Cadets formed up and joined in the service. The service was well attended, and there was a great sense of community as the village came together to pay their respects. The School brass ensemble also took part in the day’s events, playing beautifully throughout.

CSM Ben Fu and Sgt Jody Taylor laid wreathes at the memorial, CSgt Hugo North carried the Contingent banner and Headmaster Mr Martin Reader read the Kohima Epitaph.

Thank you to all staff that helped with preparations, especially Mr Marcus Fleeson from the works department who trained Hugo on banner drill.

A very moving occasion; all Cadets should be proud of all their effort. The staff and parent’s certainty are.
