Wednesday 1st February saw many members of the Cranleigh Community taking part in an Any Shoe Day fundraiser to raise money for WaterAid and Help for Heroes. There was a wide range of shoes from comical to practical and the day raised £584.60 (at the time of writing, though this figure looks set to rise). This impressive total will be donated to both charities equally. The day really put the fun back into fundraising and provided a fun day, lightening up the spirits of the usual mid-week gloom for all who took part.

The event was organised by Cranleigh’s own Interact Club, which is a group of students from Cranleigh and St Joseph’s School, who together have already risen over £70 for Help the Heroes, with a Halloween themed disco and raffle for all the pupils from St Joseph’s which took place on November 1st 2011. The group’s future planned events include a Krispy Kreme sale on Wednesday 8th February and the sale of personalised wristbands throughout the upcoming year.
