How does Cranleigh Senior support learning?
Thoughtful, tailored and discreet learning support is part of everyday classroom life. The Cranleigh Senior Learning Support team works alongside teachers and pastoral staff so pupils feel understood, supported and able to thrive. Support is delivered through in-class help, small group sessions and targeted one-to-one teaching, helping pupils develop confidence, independence and the strategies they need to succeed.
Academic, pastoral and wellbeing teams work closely together, with counselling and emotional support available when needed to ensure every pupil receives the right support at the right time. Cranleigh’s Parent Partnership keeps families closely involved: plans are pupil-owned and parent-shared, and regular communication keeps everyone connected and moving forward together.
SEND support continues into our Sixth Form here in Surrey, giving pupils the same steady, familiar guidance as they step into more advanced learning.
What exam access arrangements does Cranleigh offer?
Cranleigh provides a wide range of exam access arrangements for pupils who qualify – from extra time to reader or scribe support, with rest breaks added as needed. All arrangements are assessed and implemented in line with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations by a qualified specialist teacher, so pupils receive the support that helps them show what they can do.

What needs do you support?
We support a wide range of specific learning differences (SpLDs), including dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, ADHD and autism, as well as other learning needs where appropriate. We also provide specialist provision for pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL). Our specialist Learning Support team works closely with pupils, parents and teachers to provide tailored support that helps every pupil reach their full potential.
How is learning support identified?
Learning support needs may be identified before a pupil joins Cranleigh through admissions information and specialist reports, or during their time at the School through teacher observations, assessment and discussion with parents.
Is there an extra fee?
In-class and small group support are included in the fee. Specialist one-to-one support is available where appropriate and charged separately.
How are access arrangements assessed?
Access arrangements, such as extra time, rest breaks or the use of a laptop in exams, are assessed by a qualified specialist teacher in line with Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations. This ensures any support is appropriate, evidence-based and meets national requirements.
Can pupils with EHCPs apply?
Yes. Pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) are welcome to apply. We review existing reports as part of the admissions process and encourage families to contact us early so we can discuss their child's needs and whether Cranleigh is the right fit.
Is wellbeing support separate?
Yes – counselling and emotional support sit alongside academic support, each offering its own service.
