Cranleigh Senior is excited to offer new 11+ entry
2 minute readCranleigh Senior is delighted to announce that it will be accepting pupils aged 11+ from September 2028, widening entry from its current entry point of 13+.
Pupils aged 11 to 13 - Years 7 & 8 - will form part of Cranleigh’s new Lower School which will have its own dedicated Lower School Hub.
This decision has been taken after careful consideration of the needs and expectations of modern families, taking account of the growing demand for children to join Cranleigh Senior at 11 years.
This is part of a wider strategic plan that will also allow Cranleigh’s growing Prep School - located on a separate area of the 280 acre site - to focus on the 3-11 age range. Cranleigh Prep has recently widened its intake with the successful launch of its Pre-Prep.
A priority for Cranleigh is to ensure a smooth transition for pupils joining at 11+, whether that is for children joining them from the Prep, or external schools. Pastoral care for the new, younger pupils has been a significant consideration and these younger children will be supported by a dedicated pastoral team.
Boarding will still be an option for those aged 11+. Rather than boarding at the Senior School, Years 7 and 8 will return to the smaller environment of Cranleigh Prep for the evenings. This reflects Cranleigh’s whole school approach to education and places each child’s wellbeing very much at the heart of the decision-making.
September 2027 will be Cranleigh Prep’s final Year 7 intake and those starting Year 6 in September 2027 will be the first cohort to move to senior education for Year 7.
