When should my child seek support from Cranleigh's counsellors?

Pupils are encouraged to reach out for mental health support at our Senior School in Surrey whenever something feels difficult or distracting, rather than waiting for worries to build. Counselling is there for everyday challenges as well as bigger moments of change. Common reasons include:

  • Anxiety and stress – when worries start affecting focus, confidence or daily life.
  • Low mood or emotional dips – when a pupil feels flat, overwhelmed or not quite themselves.
  • Friendship or peer issues – navigating fallouts, social pressure or changing relationships.
  • Family changes or transitions – including separation, loss, moves or new routines.
  • Identity or personal development questions – exploring who they are and how they feel.

Counselling is calm, respectful and built on trust.
