International pupils are warmly welcomed from the moment they arrive. How do international pupils settle in when they arrive?
New international pupils receive support from House staff, tutors and fellow pupils as they settle into routines, meet friends and become familiar with school life. Can my child continue music, sport or other interests while boarding?
Yes. Boarding life at Cranleigh allows pupils to continue developing their interests through a wide range of co-curricular opportunities, including music, sport, drama, creative activities and clubs. Pupils are encouraged to pursue their passions while discovering new interests alongside their academic studies.
Is there a UK guardian requirement?
Yes. International pupils are required to have a UK guardian arranged through an approved guardianship provider. Guardians provide additional support outside term time and act as an important point of contact for families.
Can pupils stay during exeats?
Yes. An exeat is a planned weekend when boarders may leave school to spend time with family or guardians. International pupils are welcome to remain at school during exeats, provided arrangements are made in advance. A programme of activities and events is available, ensuring pupils continue to enjoy a supportive and engaging boarding experience.
Is English as an additional language (EAL) support included?
Yes. English as an Additional Language (EAL) support is available and forms part of the timetable where appropriate, helping pupils develop confidence in English and succeed academically.
Can my international child receive support?
All of our international pupils are supported by our International Pupil Liaison Officer who works alongside the Housemasters, Housemistresses, Matrons, tutors and EAL teachers to ensure that they are able to really thrive here at Cranleigh. We are in regular contact with both parents and guardians who we very much see as being part of our community.
How do parents stay in touch?
Parents can stay connected with their child through phone calls, video calls and email. House staff help support communication between pupils and families, including across different time zones.
Are religious observances supported?
Yes. Religious and cultural observance is supported thoughtfully and respectfully, based on each pupil’s individual needs.
