What societies does Cranleigh Senior run?

We offer over 60 pupil-run societies covering academic, creative, political and outdoor interests. Most are led by pupils – especially in the Sixth Form – helping them develop leadership and other skills and qualities beyond the classroom.

What is Priority Time at Cranleigh Senior?

Priority Time gives pupils dedicated space in the timetable to focus on the co-curricular commitments that matter to them. Pupils can take on leadership roles, societies and service projects without them clashing with academic lessons.

What outdoor education does Cranleigh Senior offer?

Outdoor education runs through Cranleigh, and in Senior school pupils get involved in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, the Combined Cadet Force (optional from Year 10), and a range of expeditions and residential challenges. Everything is designed to build resilience, independence and teamwork through real experiences.

How does Cranleigh build service and leadership?

At Cranleigh, leadership grows through action. Pupils volunteer, mentor and work with local schools, charities and international partners – real projects that help real people. Along the way, they learn how to step up, take responsibility and lead in a way that genuinely matters.

What trips and tours does Cranleigh Senior run?

Cranleigh offers a brilliant mix of trips, from sports tours and language exchanges to cultural visits and overseas adventures. Each one builds leadership, broadens horizons and helps pupils understand their place in the wider world.

What is CCF?

The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) combines Army, Navy and RAF cadet training within a single school organisation. It's a voluntary programme that offers pupils the opportunity to develop leadership, teamwork and resilience through a range of practical and challenging activities. Through training, fieldcraft, drill and adventure exercises, pupils build confidence, independence and valuable life skills alongside their academic studies.

Is Combined Cadet Force (CCF) compulsory?

CCF is encouraged for at least one year, typically Year 10.

Is DofE compulsory?

Bronze is encouraged in Year 10. Silver and Gold are optional.

How much do expeditions cost?

Costs differ by trip, and each one comes with a clear breakdown. Bursary support is available.

Are there service partnerships?

Yes – we have partnerships with local primary schools, charities and overseas organisations.

Can pupils lead clubs?

Yes – and many do, especially in Sixth Form.
