At Cranleigh School, we believe that the strongest support networks are built from within our own community. Cranleigh Being is our flagship pupil-led pastoral group, led predominantly by Sixth Form pupils who are passionate about driving positive cultural change across the whole school.
Each year, student leaders select key areas of focus that reflect the evolving needs of our community. Recent pupil-driven campaigns have championed:
- Mental health & wellbeing: Raising awareness and promoting healthy-eating habits.
- Safety & respect: Driving initiatives around anti-bullying, consent, and anti-sexual violence.
- Inclusion & diversity: Partnering with staff and the Diversity Alliance to foster true belonging for every child.
Action, assembly & advocacy
Cranleigh Being leaders don't just spark conversations - they deliver action. The group is regularly called upon to lead whole-school assemblies and design interactive House initiatives for national awareness events, including Anti-Bullying Week, Children's Mental Health Week, International Women’s Day and Odd Socks Day.
Beyond the classroom, the group organizes major whole-school events and charity fundraisers, such as:
- The Cranleigh Colour Run (supporting BEAT)
- The Charity Netball Tournament (supporting Movember)
- Fundraising campaigns supporting physical ability, mental health and equity initiatives.
Recognized excellence in pupil leadership
Leadership within Cranleigh Being carries immense prestige. The role of Cranleigh Being Chair is a key Prefect position of whole-school responsibility, aspired to by some of our most dynamic and motivated student leaders.
The group’s profound impact on our school culture has been formally recognized by ISI inspection teams and national award judges, who highlighted Cranleigh Being as a cornerstone of our strong culture of inclusion and belonging.
