Aims & Ethos
Social Responsibility
At Cranleigh School, social responsibility is something pupils live and experience in real ways every day.

How does Cranleigh approach charity, sustainability and outreach?

Cranleigh School and social responsibility go hand in hand. Across year groups, pupils take on the community projects they care about and get involved in House charity work, working together and growing in confidence as young changemakers and leaders. They also learn about sustainability in ways that help them make good, responsible decisions. Strong outreach partnerships connect Cranleigh with local schools, charities and wider communities, helping pupils see the world beyond school and the importance of social responsibility.

What is the impact of Cranleigh's outreach work?

Outreach at our independent school in Surrey is built on local and international partnerships that have grown over many years. It’s a two-way relationship that supports partner organisations while giving pupils real world experiences that nurture empathy, leadership and confidence.

Our Beyond Ourselves partnership in Zambia’s Copperbelt has been central to this work since 2011. Together, we’ve helped build and maintain six classrooms, a toilet block and a kitchen, giving nearly 1,000 children access to high‑quality primary education.

Every year, Cranleigh staff and pupils visit Zambia to spend time in classrooms, join activities and learn directly from the community. It’s an experience that goes far beyond charitable giving – a chance for shared growth, cultural exchange and seeing the world through a different lens. These moments of connection shape lasting change for everyone involved.
