We conduct summative and formative, age appropriate standardised assessments which inform teacher’s planning and allow us to track pupil progress across the Prep.

Specialist teaching begins in Pre-School with swimming, PE and Forest School, with further teaching in Year 1 for subjects including Music, PE and Forest School and in Year 2 for French.

Homework in Year 1 and 2 typically involves daily reading and a few short tasks that gently build on class learning. It’s designed to fit easily and calmly into family life.

We offer French in Pre-Prep, with Spanish and Latin introduced at Prep (Year 3).

Year 1 & 2 pupils enjoy a range of age-appropriate outings that enrich their learning and help them grow in confidence beyond the classroom. A residential trip is offered in Year 3.

Families benefit from wraparound care before and after school:

• Breakfast Club from 7.45am
• Compass Club - After-school clubs and activities until 5.45pm with extended care available until 6pm
• Homework support included within after-school provision

This creates a calm, consistent extension of the school day for working families.

Pastoral care and early, proactive learning support is woven into Cranleigh life. Year 1 and 2 teachers and teaching assistants understand each child, pick up early signs with care and work alongside Learning Support and parents to offer timely help. Every pupil is supported to take the next steps with confidence.
