A visit to Cranleigh Prep lets you step into the buzz of school life and get a feel for how your child will thrive. Hear from the Head, chat to pupils and meet the team who will be cheering your child on every day.

  • Open Days – half day termly events offering a welcoming first look at Cranleigh life, with opportunities to hear from pupils and staff, tour the campus, and gain a real sense of the School’s vibrant community and educational approach.
  • Admissions Mornings & Tours – regular opportunities to explore the School more personally during a normal working day, see lessons and activities in action, and meet a Senior Leader who can answer any questions about life at Cranleigh.

How do I apply to Cranleigh Prep at 11+?

The Cranleigh School admissions process is simple, with a dedicated team on hand to guide you every step of the way. Entry at 11+ (Year 7) is the main external entry point to the Prep School and involves an academic assessment and interview. Applicants can also choose to apply for a scholarship during the admissions process.

 

Places may be available in other year groups where capacity allows. Children can also join the Pre-Prep in Pre-School (3+) or Reception (4+) through our Early Years provision.

Register your child and pay the £240 fee.

Entry test

Year 6 pupils sit the ISEB Common Pre-Test at their own Prep Schools in the October/November before entry.

Assessment day

Assessment day includes a school visit and interview so we can get to know your child as an individual.

Offer

Offers are communicated within a few weeks of assessment.

Acceptance

Accept your offer and pay a £2,000 deposit to secure your place.

What are Cranleigh Prep fees?

Cranleigh Prep offers clear and transparent fee options so families can plan with confidence. 

  • Fees published by stage 
  • Fee-in-advance scheme available 
  • Sibling discounts available for the third and subsequent children attending the school
  • Fee assistance (means-tested bursaries) for eligible families

What bus routes serve Cranleigh Prep?

Getting to Cranleigh Prep is easy, with bus routes running to and from Shere, Cobham, East Horsley, Godalming, Horsham and Billingshurst. 

What scholarships does Cranleigh offer?

Our independent school in Surrey offers a range of scholarships and bursaries to help pupils access a Cranleigh education and to recognise talent, achievement or potential. During the application process, pupils can apply for up to two scholarships – Academic, Art, Design Engineering, Product Design, Drama, Performing Arts, Music or Sport – each offering a financial award of up to around 15%. 

Applicants who are not awarded a scholarship may instead be offered an Exhibition, which provides recognition of particular strength in a chosen area and access to dedicated pathways and development opportunities, but does not include a fee reduction. Bursaries are means-tested and provide support based on individual family circumstances, with some places supported by the Cranleigh Foundation.

Is there a deadline for applications?

The main 11+ assessment is in autumn for entry to our independent school in Surrey the following September.

What does the assessment involve?

The 11+ assessment looks at the whole child, and includes written academic papers, an interview and a day visit. 

Can pupils join in other years?

Yes, places are available in other year groups where capacity allows.

Can siblings be considered together?

Sibling applications are considered favourably where Cranleigh academic standards are met and discounts are available for the third and subsequent children attending the school.
