Well done to Cranleigh musicians, James Thornton-Wood (IVth Form) and Fayruz Megdiche (LVIth), who have both won20150123-_DSC7721 places to join prestigious national orchestras. James has been chosen to play in the National Childrens’ Wind Orchestra and will be performing with them at London’s Cadogan Hall in April. James will be having a very musical Easter break as he has also been accepted into the ‘Duet Philharmonic Orchestra’ and will be playing with them at the Royal Festival Hall the week before.

Fayruz joins the National Youth Wind Ensemble of Great Britain: conducted by Phillip Scott, it is a one-player-per-part wind ensemble of about 40 players which has established an enviable international reputation since its foundation in 1998.  It regularly commissions new pieces from important composers and they too will play at the Cadogan Hall in April.
