Cranleigh School has an extensive range of extremely high-standard sporting facilities. During their time at Cranleigh, pupils will have the chance to try a variety of sports. Due to our sports for all philosophy, all pupils will have the opportunity to train and compete regularly as part of a team throughout the year.
COURTS AND PITCHES
Our courts and pitches are maintained year round by our dedicated grounds team; this includes three full-size artificial pitches, one of which is floodlit, 12 hard Tennis courts, in use during the Michaelmas and Lent terms, alongside nine astro courts in use during the Summer term, eight netball courts, four squash courts (currently being refurbished) and six Fives courts. For Rugby, Football and Cricket, Cranleigh also has 10 grass pitches on site, including an International standard 1st XV pitch.
Mainly in use during the Summer term, Cranleigh has an extensive array of Cricket facilities. This includes five outdoor Cricket Squares, one all-weather match pitch, 13 all-weather practice nets and a match pavilion. The Jubilee Memorial Pavilion houses facilities including an umpire room, changing rooms for home and away teams, an electronic score board and has capacity to hold events and match teas. Cranleigh also has one indoor Cricket bubble as well as three indoor practice nets, housed in TASC.
At Cranleigh we have our own on site Equestrian Centre, which provides riding lessons for pupils of all abilities, with and without their own horses. BHS approved and inspected, Cranleigh School Equestrian Centre is run by a dedicated team of qualified and experienced BHSAI’s and grooms. It is also inspected by Waverley Borough Council Inspection – licence number LN/00000030 Name held under Patrick Roberts.
Our facilities include two sand schools, one 30m x 60m, one 20m x 40m, both with floodlights, as well as two country courses, with fences ranging from 50cm to 1m. We can also offer dressage and show jumping on grass throughout the summer months. As well as our facilities for riding, we also have 30 boxes, all year grass turn out and a riding school reception office.
Pupils at Cranleigh may bring their own horse or pony to school with them, by arrangement, to be kept at livery. Please read the Cranleigh School Livery Handbook 2020 for more information on this. For pupils who do not have their own horse or pony, we also operate a pony loan scheme; information on this can be obtained by talking to your instructor. For pupils who only wish to take lessons whilst at School, we have a variety of School owned ponies available for lessons.
OUTDOOR EDUCATION CENTRE
To support our Outdoor Education programme, we have a fully equipped Outdoor Education Centre on site, housing an indoor climbing wall which is re-routed regularly, rowing machines for kayak training and stores, equipment for CCF and expeditions as well as meeting space for expedition briefings. This area of the School also includes conditioning and training facilities for climbing.
For swimming at Cranleigh we have our own indoor on site swimming pool which houses our 4 lane, 25-metre swimming pool with spectator’s gallery. This building also houses changing facilities for boys and girls.
