Looking out for others and service to the community is part of our ethos at Cranleigh School. Pupils choose the causes they want to support, get stuck into fundraising and join community projects that make them proud of who they are and what they can achieve.
What charity and community work does Cranleigh do?
Cranleigh charity and community work is lively, hands-on and shaped by pupils. Each year, they vote for the local, national and international charities they want to support and organise fundraising. Community service also gives pupils hands-on experiences through projects with local school and community groups, helping them see the impact of their actions.
How does Cranleigh give back to its community
Charity and community service at our Prep school in Surrey is woven into House activities, year-group projects and whole-school initiatives, giving every pupil plenty of opportunities to take part. Our strong partnerships with local schools and organisations deepen this connection, helping them grow in confidence as they contribute to the local community.

Charity is organised through Houses, year groups and a school-wide charity team.

Yes. Pupils regularly nominate and vote for the charities they want to support, giving them real ownership.
What is the Zambia partnership?
Our long‑term partnership with education charity Beyond Ourselves has been growing since 2011. Each year, Cranleigh staff and pupils travel to Zambia’s Copperbelt to spend time with children and teachers in classrooms, join activities and learn directly from the community. Over this time, we’ve helped build and maintain six classrooms, a toilet block and a kitchen, giving nearly 1,000 children access to high‑quality primary education
This experience helps Cranleigh pupils step outside their comfort zone and see the world through a different lens. They grow in cultural awareness, build confidence and resilience, and develop teamwork skills by learning to work closely with others. Most of all, they gain a clearer understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing communities beyond their own.
