What is the Cranleigh SPARK programme?

SPARK is Cranleigh Prep’s dynamic enrichment curriculum that equips pupils with the skills they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world. SPARK complements academic learning through hands-on projects, practical life skills, real-world experiences and specialist short courses. Running throughout Years 3 to 8, the programme helps pupils explore new interests, develop confidence and build the knowledge, skills and mindset needed for life beyond school.

 

 

What you study

The Cranleigh SPARK programme is carefully tailored to pupils' age and development, nurturing curiosity, creativity, collaboration and independence at each stage. Alongside practical learning experiences, pupils meet inspiring guest speakers who introduce new ideas, broaden horizons and encourage them to think about their future.

Years 3 & 4

A lively introduction focused on curiosity, teamwork and exploration. Pupils dive into themes such as sustainability, charity, forest school skills and culture, building early confidence, resilience and communication skills.

Years 5 & 6

A shift towards practical, future-ready skills. Pupils learn first aid, complete Bikeability (cycle training programme) and take on enterprise projects that build collaboration, creativity, leadership and problem-solving skills.

Years 7 & 8

A more personalised, choice-led experience. In Years 7 & 8, pupils select courses that match their interests and strengths, nurturing independence, initiative and the confidence to take ownership of their learning.

SPARK provides a natural pathway into the Cranleigh Futures programme.

Yes, but qualitatively – we look at growth, not grades.

Who teaches SPARK?

Cranleigh SPARK programme is a subject that sits alongside academic lessons, building the transferable skills that boost learning across the whole curriculum.

Why is it called SPARK?

It’s called SPARK because it does exactly that – it sparks pupils’ growth through skills, passions, art, readiness and knowledge.

Is SPARK in Years 5-6 too?

Yes, and the Diploma builds on it in Years 7-8.

What happens after SPARK?
